Let’s talk about The Mindy Project- Caramel Princess Time

This was EXACTLY what I needed after weeks of baseball games I don’t care about. I needed Mindy, Danny, Peter, Morgan, BRENDAN. You know, I just needed my pals back and to throw BRENDAN back in the mix was a fun surprise. In case you haven’t picked up on it yet, I love Brendan and Mark Duplass. Almost as much as I love Peter and Adam Pally.

So, then, let’s talk about Peter. I’ve loved watching him find himself these past two seasons. When we met him, he was a douche. He still is, don’t get me wrong, but at least he seems to be working on it. I’m really excited to see how this thing with Abby goes. Allison Tolman is great and Adam Pally is so goddamn hilarious and talented. They’ll be fun to watch. They already are.

Mindy is always late. Danny is always angry. It only makes sense that Dr. Fishman tells him he needs to go to Brendan’s seminar and come to term with his demons. AND HE DID! At first, that whole situation was hilarious. It definitely helped to have Morgan there. I don’t know if you know this, but Morgan/Ike Barinholtz is amazing. And when you throw him and Danny together, it’s magic. So, yeah, it started off pretty funny. But then, Danny actually broke down and told Brendan why he gets so angry when Mindy’s late. And it ripped my heart out. Dammit, Alan Castellano. You broke him and he’s just now getting put back together!

Mindy and Danny are STILL killing it in the couple game. I don’t know what they’re doing to make it work so well, but it is. There’s no Moonlighting curse going on here. Seriously, they’re growing and learning and fighting and making up and being together. They’re cute, they’re funny, they’re annoying, they’re sometimes ridiculous, but IT ALL WORKS.

Let’s talk about Once Upon a Time- Breaking Glass

I KNEW IT! I think a lot of us knew it. The Snow Queen has some connection to Emma through her time in the foster system. Just because I knew it doesn’t mean I understand it. Now that it’s been confirmed, I’m just so much more confused. I have so many questions.

How was she in this world to begin with? Where did she come from? Where did Emma’s (and Elsa’s) memories go? Why does no one remember this Snow Queen from previous curses? SO MANY QUESTIONS.

Ugh, silver lining? The small, yet deeply important Captain Swan moments. Emma really opened up to him last night. It was a huge step for her as a person and for them as a couple. HUGE.

We’ve always known that Emma’s past, her childhood, was not an easy one. We all know she’s been through hell and back to get where she is now with her family. I was so happy, for however brief it was, to see Emma with a friend. She didn’t have anyone until she met Neal when she was 18. But, for a small blip, she did. She had Lily. And now I want to know what happened to her. I want to know if she and Emma ever crossed paths again. I kind of, I don’t know, I need it. Emma needs some more friends.

She needs Regina. Or, at least, she wants to be friends with her. I’d really like to see that relationship flourish. They’ve been able to overcome so much already, they can get past the Marian issue. Maybe, I don’t know.

After the promo:

Tell me everything there is to know about the Snow Queen. Give me my answers. Don’t kill Anna. Too. Many. Emotions.

Let’s talk about Once Upon a Time- The Apprentice

You know, I loved this episode, but I don’t have too much to say about it.

I would love to focus on that date. Wouldn’t we all? Shouldn’t we all? They both looked STUNNING. Like, jaw-droppingly gorgeous. And happy. Holy crap, they were so happy. You could see them falling more and more in love with every second, every look, every two-handed touch.

That damn hand, though, huh? Can’t Killian and Emma just be happy? Why must this hand come back to haunt my dear, dear captain? I know he’s changed, it’s been made obvious that he’s changed. Rumpel hasn’t changed, but because he’s the Dark One, he doesn’t have to? Come on, how is that fair? I am so sick of Killian suffering. Didn’t we get enough of that last season? Let’s just hope that Rumpel is wrong and it was a cursed hand, not the desire within Killian. At least, that’s what I’m sticking with.

Back to the date, though, can we just talk about the adorable parents that the Charmings make? Jesus, David is such a dad. It’s actually ridiculously precious and it’s always something I love seeing. Mary Margaret was killing it in the mom department, too. Taking pictures, asking questions–adorable. It’s almost like we were getting season one Emma-Mary Margaret back. I’d love for them to find a balance between friends and mother/daughter.

But seriously? Who the hell is this Snow Queen? I’m dying here. How is she connected to Emma? Where did she come from?!

Let’s talk about The Mindy Project- Crimes & Misdemeanors & Ex-BFs

Oh, Cliff, I’ve really missed you. I didn’t realize I missed you until you were back. He was so bitter and it was awesome. And he was also kind of creepy and it was also awesome.

Danny and Mindy are my favorite couple on television right now. They’re always together, yet I don’t feel like I’m being smothered by them. And they fight, but that makes them them. It’s so obvious how much they care about each other, even when Danny is still technically married to someone else and Mindy goes on a date with her ex-boyfriend. They’re that good, guys. They’re perfect and no one can tell me otherwise. I won’t listen to a damn word.

Peter/Lauren/Jeremy ended with Jeremy winning over in the end. Poor, poor Peter. As disgusting and douchey as Peter is, I still love him most. He deserves love. He wanted to take Henry to his first baseball game! Ugh, that killed me! PETER.

So, Danny’s divorced. Mindy’s tax problems are fixed and the practice is safe. She’s got her own little set of drawers at Danny’s now, after a long game of hiding her things and having him find them and make her take them with her. They’ve overcome a couple of issues and they’re better for it. They’re also, like, really funny together. Before this show, I never imagined Chris Messina as funny. But, he is. He really, really is.

OH! And Brendan made a small appearance last night. All my dreams came true in one half hour. Swoon.

Let’s talk about New Girl- Julie Berkman’s Older Sister

Yes. So good. Thank you, New Girl gods for getting it right. SO right. The guys off doing their sponge thing. The girls off meeting Jess’s dad’s new girlfriend. It was great.

I love Rob Reiner as Bob. He fits in so nicely with the rest of these idiots and he is perfect for Jess’s dad. I’ve always believed that. Kaitlin Olson as his new, much younger girlfriend? Even better. She killed it. Her past with Jess and Cece was hilarious. The proposal– Jess lying limp in her father’s arms while holding up the ring– so good.

Schmidt’s off at work trying to win a sponge account. And he’s not doing so great. He’s Schmidt, of course he’s not doing great. But, he’s brought he guys in for some brainstorming and then some focus group rigging. And he still fails miserably. Schmidt and Nick were on fire this episode, though. Now that they’re sharing a room, things have gotten a little heated. It’s like they’re back in college. But it’s worse because they’re grown ass men. It’s Nick’s slovenly ways, though, that inspires Schmidt and wins him the sponge account. So, all’s well that ends well.

Sometimes, this show makes me laugh so hard. And other times it makes me cringe. Last night’s episode was a good one. It had me laughing, for sure. I must say, a lot of that credit goes to Schmidt and Nick. They’re too good together. Put them in any scene, playing off of each other, and I’m done for.

Let’s talk about Brooklyn Nine-Nine- Undercover

Oh man, I may have watched it a day late, but that doesn’t mean I wasn’t giddy with anticipation. I did a rewatch of this wonderful, goofy show over the summer and it made me love it even more than I did originally. I’m so glad it’s back. I missed Jake Peralta almost as much as Boyle did.

Jake undercover was a sight for sore eyes. That hair? No thanks. That tracksuit? Absolutely not. But he was good, really good. And I’m glad he’s back with the 99. With Amy.

Who, by the way, is still with Teddy. Jake told her that he didn’t mean what he said before he left, about having feelings for her. That was at the beginning of the episode, though. By the end, he told her the truth– he does have feelings for her, he wants to be honest with her, but he won’t try to break her and Teddy up. So, I’m definitely looking forward to see how Amy acts around him knowing his feelings for her.

Boyle and Gina slept together six months before and I TOTALLY forgot about it. I’m so happy I did, it was a fun little reminder. Gina is hilarious and Boyle is a mess. They’re both so great. What’s even more great? The fact that the slept together again at the end of the episode? Is this a new thing? I kind of hope so!

Let’s talk about Once Upon a Time- A Tale of Two Sisters

Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god. It is so amazing to have this stupid little show back. And by stupid, I mean perfect. I was so nervous that Anna wouldn’t live up to Anna in the movie and she TOTALLY did! She was, actually, kind of perfect. So was Elsa. Kristoff was good, but not quite up to snuff with Frozen‘s Kristoff. There’s still time, though, and I adore Scott Michael Foster.

Regina went and broke my heart a million times over. She’s understandably heartbroken and pissed off over the fact that Marion is back and Robin is choosing her. I mean, Robin is a good man who has to live up to his moral code, but it won’t be easy. That’s obvious right off the bat. I’m kind of pumped to see how this mess plays out. I really, really hope Regina doesn’t dabble with the darkness too much. She needs to get it out of her system, I’m sure, but she does not need to go ALL Evil Queen on us.

Emma doesn’t have it easy. She’s the one that brought Marion back. And Elsa, though she doesn’t know that quite yet. She is wrecked with guilt over ruining Regina’s happiness. She’s avoiding Hook because of it. He’s no dummy either, he knows what she’s doing. He also suspects that there’s something else she’s guilty about. Neal, perhaps?

And, speaking of Neal, I’m a little upset about his headstone. “Beloved son.” That’s all it says. What about “Devoted Father?” Yes, he wasn’t around all that much for Henry, but only because he didn’t know about him! In the little time he spent with his son, he LOVED him. And Henry loved Neal. Like I said, I’m a little upset here.

So, anyway… We pick up the Frozen story about 2 years after the movie ends. Anna’s getting married and Elsa has gifted her with their mother’s wedding dress. However, while they’re in the attic trying on the dress, Elsa finds a diary. It alludes that their parents left because they were afraid of Elsa and her parents. She thinks they left and, therefore, died because of her. So, Anna goes off on a two week journey to Mist Haven to find the truth about why they were headed there. By the way, Mist Haven is the Enchanted Forest.

In Storybrooke, we see Elsa hiding behind her terrifying snow monster and running around town looking for Mr. Gold. In a newspaper she found, she sees a necklace that she had given to Anna the day she left on her journey. So, they’ve been separate since Anna left and Elsa is now sure she’s in Storybrooke. It would make sense if she was in the Enchanted Forest when the curses hit. God, I hope she’s not dead. And I hope Kristoff’s hanging around Storybrooke somewhere, too.

After the promo:

Not too much to say other than I AM SO EXCITED for the rest of this season. Elsa, Anna, Captain Swan, Outlaw Queen. There’s so much to look forward to!

Let’s talk about The Mindy Project- Annette Castellano is My Nemesis

I knew, without a doubt, that Rhea Perlman would be amazing. I mean, hello? She’s Rhea Perlman. But I didn’t know, until I saw it, how perfect she was as Danny and Richie’s mom. It was, like, uncanny. Great.

She’s all tough and ball busting on Danny, but she babies the crap out of little Richie. Who, by the way, runs a “how to be gay on a budget” web series? I think we need to get some of those like we did with Morgan’s webisodes last season. And they definitely need to feature cameos from the rest of the Castellanos.

I digress… Mindy and Danny are still working as a couple and I am so pleased. It’s not being shoved down our throats and I love that. It’s happening naturally and we get to see it that way. Two weeks in and I’m as hooked as ever.

I was bummed at the lack of Peter and the complete lack of Jeremy, but it was about Ma last night, and just a little about Morgan and Tamra’s relationship. They’re kind of weird and I’m not sure where I fall yet. I don’t hate them, so that’s good. But they haven’t completely won me over, either.

To be fair, my heart lies with the Mindy/Danny relationship and anything remotely having to do with Peter Prentice. So… it’s pretty tough competition.

Let’s talk about New Girl- Dice

I’m not going to lie, I was a little distracted last night, so this won’t be very long or in depth at all.

I never realize how much I love the Jess-Schmidt dynamic until they have a separate storyline from the rest of the group. I love them together. They’re so different, so they are always so funny. Schmidt coaching her through Dice (which is basically just Tinder) was great because we all know that’s not the type of girl Jess is. However, it’s exactly the kind of man Schmidt is. I don’t know, I just love the two of them together, causing trouble.

I didn’t really care about the other four, though. The getting Coach high for the first time story just wasn’t funny to me. It could have been, but something about it didn’t make me laugh. I can’t pinpoint it. Although, high (same as drunk) Nick Miller is THE BEST. He’s so freaking funny.

Last week reminded me of season 1/early season 2 New Girl, but last night was like late season 2/season 3. It just didn’t stand up. We’ll see how the rest of the season plays out, though.

Let’s talk about Gotham- Pilot

This blog is straight up turning into a Fox love fest, huh? They’re just so on point recently, I can’t help it. Gotham was no exception. Are you kidding me? It was AMAZING. Ben McKenzie and Donal Logue are just SO. GOOD. Even Jada Pinkett Smith, whom I have never liked much. It’s just an all around great cast. The villains, the heroes, little Bruce. YES.

Obviously, I’m a fan of Jim Gordon. I always have been. It’s so awesome to see him as a rookie detective, learning the hard way of how to survive in Gotham. It’s going to be a bumpy ride, but I cannot wait to watch it. His relationship with Bruce Wayne is already one of my favorite things. I mean, how could it not be? That little boy who plays Bruce (David Mazouz) is so good. He and Ben McKenzie have a really cool chemistry.

McKenzie’s chemistry with Logue was great. Harvey and Jim are going to have some real, honest issues and they’re going to be fantastic. I kind of hate Harvey (as we’re supposed to, I think?) but I also really love him. He’s not really a bad guy, but he’s absolutely no Jim Gordon. And Donal Logue is just too talented for his own good.

Sign me up, man. I’m in this for the long haul.
