Let’s talk about Once Upon a Time- Breaking Glass

I KNEW IT! I think a lot of us knew it. The Snow Queen has some connection to Emma through her time in the foster system. Just because I knew it doesn’t mean I understand it. Now that it’s been confirmed, I’m just so much more confused. I have so many questions.

How was she in this world to begin with? Where did she come from? Where did Emma’s (and Elsa’s) memories go? Why does no one remember this Snow Queen from previous curses? SO MANY QUESTIONS.

Ugh, silver lining? The small, yet deeply important Captain Swan moments. Emma really opened up to him last night. It was a huge step for her as a person and for them as a couple. HUGE.

We’ve always known that Emma’s past, her childhood, was not an easy one. We all know she’s been through hell and back to get where she is now with her family. I was so happy, for however brief it was, to see Emma with a friend. She didn’t have anyone until she met Neal when she was 18. But, for a small blip, she did. She had Lily. And now I want to know what happened to her. I want to know if she and Emma ever crossed paths again. I kind of, I don’t know, I need it. Emma needs some more friends.

She needs Regina. Or, at least, she wants to be friends with her. I’d really like to see that relationship flourish. They’ve been able to overcome so much already, they can get past the Marian issue. Maybe, I don’t know.

After the promo:

Tell me everything there is to know about the Snow Queen. Give me my answers. Don’t kill Anna. Too. Many. Emotions.

Let’s talk about Once Upon a Time- The Apprentice

You know, I loved this episode, but I don’t have too much to say about it.

I would love to focus on that date. Wouldn’t we all? Shouldn’t we all? They both looked STUNNING. Like, jaw-droppingly gorgeous. And happy. Holy crap, they were so happy. You could see them falling more and more in love with every second, every look, every two-handed touch.

That damn hand, though, huh? Can’t Killian and Emma just be happy? Why must this hand come back to haunt my dear, dear captain? I know he’s changed, it’s been made obvious that he’s changed. Rumpel hasn’t changed, but because he’s the Dark One, he doesn’t have to? Come on, how is that fair? I am so sick of Killian suffering. Didn’t we get enough of that last season? Let’s just hope that Rumpel is wrong and it was a cursed hand, not the desire within Killian. At least, that’s what I’m sticking with.

Back to the date, though, can we just talk about the adorable parents that the Charmings make? Jesus, David is such a dad. It’s actually ridiculously precious and it’s always something I love seeing. Mary Margaret was killing it in the mom department, too. Taking pictures, asking questions–adorable. It’s almost like we were getting season one Emma-Mary Margaret back. I’d love for them to find a balance between friends and mother/daughter.

But seriously? Who the hell is this Snow Queen? I’m dying here. How is she connected to Emma? Where did she come from?!

Let’s talk about Once Upon a Time- White Out

Oh man, guys. I love Elsa. And Anna. I don’t want them to disappear once the Frozen arc is over. Emma needs a friend and, I dare say, she found one in Elsa.

Elsa, determined to find Anna, put up a wall of ice around the town. David, Emma, and Hook were on the scene moments after it happened. So was Elsa. When Emma noticed her hiding within the ice, she went to investigate. That’s what our Savior does. But, when Captain Charming came after her, Elsa’s powers took over and she and Emma got trapped inside.

As we know, the cold doesn’t bother Elsa. It does, however, have a major impact on Emma’s wellbeing. As she begins to freeze to death, the two blondes bond over their lack of control of their respective powers. Elsa tells Emma about Anna and Emma sends her father and her boyfriend (I’m standing by that title. If Rumpel can, so can I) off to find her.

We find out that David, before he replaced James as prince, knew Anna. Back when his hair was as long and luscious as his daughter’s. Anna stayed with him when she sought passage to the Enchanted Forest and she trained him in sword fighting. Anna taught David how to wield a sword! Am I the only one impressed by that? DAVID! Anyway, she helps him defeat Bo Peep and find his courage. He, of course, remembers this when he finds out who Elsa’s sister is.

He and Hook go off to find Bo Peep at the butcher shop and Hook takes her staff. It will help them find Anna because Bo branded her back in the Enchanted Forest. Although Elsa thinks she needs Anna to help control her powers and melt the ice cave, David—using Anna’s words and wisdom—talks her through it and she’s able to melt it just enough for her and Emma to squeeze on out of there.

Emma—still freezing—lunges at Hook in the most amazing, loving hug I’ve ever seen. These two are the real deal. I mean, we’ve seen it from Hook all along, but this was HUGE for her. The way she went to him was VERY telling. So was the hand holding and cuddling back at the Charmings’ while she warmed up.

Using the staff, they weren’t able to find Anna, but they did hear a heartbeat, proving she’s alive. It’s not ideal, but it’s good enough until they can find her.

Also, Snow is now the mayor and was put in charge of getting the power on after Elsa’s ice wall killed it. She succeeded with a little help from baby Neal. I like her in this new role—mother, mayor, she’s killing it! Regina told Henry she didn’t want to see him while she was dealing with her heartache over Robin Hood. But, being a Charming (in some way, I guess?) he doesn’t accept that. He goes on over and they reunite. It was really, really nice. Oh, and kind of a big one, Elsa tries to melt the wall completely—to free the town—but she can’t. They don’t know it yet, but there’s a snow queen in town and she is not going to let that wall down without a fight. Here we go.

Let’s talk about the brief- yet perfect- Captain Swan kiss

I didn’t mention it in my full review because it wasn’t totally necessary to my feelings on the episode. The whole scene was great. From the line about going home and watching Netflix to Hook’s giddy smile when he said yes even though he has NO idea what Netflix is. And, then, finally to the kiss.

After telling him she’s guilty about Regina and Robin and him telling her that he thinks there’s something else, she kisses him. It’s short, yes, but it’s so sweet and meaningful. Emma Swan does not go around kissing guys especially not when she knows how they feel about her. She knows Hook is in love with her, she would never lead him on on purpose.

Emma told him to be patient. We have to be patient, too. But if we get little moments like that in the meantime, I definitely wouldn’t be mad!

Let’s talk about Once Upon a Time- A Tale of Two Sisters

Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god. It is so amazing to have this stupid little show back. And by stupid, I mean perfect. I was so nervous that Anna wouldn’t live up to Anna in the movie and she TOTALLY did! She was, actually, kind of perfect. So was Elsa. Kristoff was good, but not quite up to snuff with Frozen‘s Kristoff. There’s still time, though, and I adore Scott Michael Foster.

Regina went and broke my heart a million times over. She’s understandably heartbroken and pissed off over the fact that Marion is back and Robin is choosing her. I mean, Robin is a good man who has to live up to his moral code, but it won’t be easy. That’s obvious right off the bat. I’m kind of pumped to see how this mess plays out. I really, really hope Regina doesn’t dabble with the darkness too much. She needs to get it out of her system, I’m sure, but she does not need to go ALL Evil Queen on us.

Emma doesn’t have it easy. She’s the one that brought Marion back. And Elsa, though she doesn’t know that quite yet. She is wrecked with guilt over ruining Regina’s happiness. She’s avoiding Hook because of it. He’s no dummy either, he knows what she’s doing. He also suspects that there’s something else she’s guilty about. Neal, perhaps?

And, speaking of Neal, I’m a little upset about his headstone. “Beloved son.” That’s all it says. What about “Devoted Father?” Yes, he wasn’t around all that much for Henry, but only because he didn’t know about him! In the little time he spent with his son, he LOVED him. And Henry loved Neal. Like I said, I’m a little upset here.

So, anyway… We pick up the Frozen story about 2 years after the movie ends. Anna’s getting married and Elsa has gifted her with their mother’s wedding dress. However, while they’re in the attic trying on the dress, Elsa finds a diary. It alludes that their parents left because they were afraid of Elsa and her parents. She thinks they left and, therefore, died because of her. So, Anna goes off on a two week journey to Mist Haven to find the truth about why they were headed there. By the way, Mist Haven is the Enchanted Forest.

In Storybrooke, we see Elsa hiding behind her terrifying snow monster and running around town looking for Mr. Gold. In a newspaper she found, she sees a necklace that she had given to Anna the day she left on her journey. So, they’ve been separate since Anna left and Elsa is now sure she’s in Storybrooke. It would make sense if she was in the Enchanted Forest when the curses hit. God, I hope she’s not dead. And I hope Kristoff’s hanging around Storybrooke somewhere, too.

After the promo:

Not too much to say other than I AM SO EXCITED for the rest of this season. Elsa, Anna, Captain Swan, Outlaw Queen. There’s so much to look forward to!

Let’s talk about Once Upon a Time

Wow… It’s been a long time since I typed those words.

Buuuuuut they started filming yesterday and the pictures I’m seeing are bananas. Elsa, anyone? Captain Swan? Charming family outing? It’s all so amazing. I cannot wait 73 more days. I want my show back now, please.

Let’s talk about Once Upon a Time- Snow Drifts & There’s No Place Like Home

Holy wow. That was some of the greatest two hours of television maybe ever! As a (completely obvious) Captain Swan shipper, it was, like, the best ending I could have asked for. As an Outlaw Queen shipper, though… Ouch. But that is what great storytelling is ALL about. It’s not going to be easy, but when has it ever been easy in Storybrooke?

I’m going to go over my thoughts and freak outs in bullets, because I could write a whole book on my feelings if I really wanted to.

  • I have to start with Captain Swan. I mean, how could I not? He didn’t have to go through that portal with her, but did we really expect him not to? And they just got off to a bad start— changing the course of time.
  • I loved watching Snow and Charming fall in love almost as much as Emma did. As much as I love them, Mary Margaret and David aren’t the most exciting characters, but this travel back in time and new beginning to their story was a lot of fun.
  • Rumpelstiltskin helping out Hook and Emma was a really cool line. And it really broke my heart when he asked about his son. Oh boy, that was just a swift kick in the gut. Ugh, but at least he was actually helpful. And he didn’t kill Hook.
  •  Rumple and Belle were so stinking cute. Those vows, man, were awesome. However, I cannot wait to see the truth about Zelena come out. Now that they’re married, it’s going to be a really interesting dynamic.
  • Emma seducing Past-Hook while our Killian got Snow on the right track to Charming was great. I mean, Killian got jealous of himself and it was adorable.
  • Outlaw Queen started out so well. Oh god, and just ended up so sad. Emma had to save Marian. She had to. But, I knew she was going to mess something up. And, boy, did she ever. Poor Regina.
  • Who would have thought that going through a super sensitive, time travel portal was what Emma needed to realize that Storybrooke and her family is home? Watching her parents almost miss meeting each other and Snow almost dying, I can definitely see where she was coming from.
  • And her magic came back. She got her and Hook back to Storybrooke, but not before Rumple asked what happened to his son. I was so nervous he wasn’t going to drink that memory potion and let her go. Hook had already left and she would not have been able to contend with the Dark One that just found out his son was dead.
  • And back in Storybrooke, we found out the baby’s name— Neal! (Cue the tears). We saw Emma call her parents Mom and Dad (more tears). And then we saw Emma realize that there’s one more person she considered home…
  • We finally found out the truth— that Hook traded the Jolly Roger for a magic bean so he could get to New York and bring Emma home. He trade HIS SHIP for her. Swoon. And, then, she KISSED HIM and it was magical and beautiful and they are canon and my heart is whole. I mean… LOOK!Image

I’m so excited for next season and the new villain (ELSA!). It’s going to be a lot of fun and I can’t imagine it’ll be as dark as the Wicked Witch was. Emma and Killian will be a dream to watch while Regina and Robin are going to rip my heart out. But I have faith. SO EXCITED!

Let’s talk about Once Upon a Time- Kansas

The Wicked Witch has been defeated. YAY! Thank god. Am I right? Jeez, I sure was getting sick of that Witch. She needed to GO. And, thanks to Rumple, she is GONE.

Although, I’m a little sad that Rumple lied to Belle in order for it to happen. I know he was doing it because Zelena killed Neal and I am all for that, but poor Belle. She trusted him. She agreed to MARRY HIM. She ain’t gonna take this well, let me tell you that.

But on to other news, Regina was the one to defeat Zelena. She was able to use light magic and she has officially become a hero. That just about makes me the happiest person in the world right now. Henry believed in her, so she was able to believe in herself. It was magical.

Emma couldn’t defeat the Witch because she had to save Hook’s life. Because that stupid Witch drowned him. Despite the fact that Emma was still holding the grudge from last week because Killian wasn’t honest with her, she saved his life and lost her powers. And the only reason he was helping her was because David made her take him. Her father understood Zelena’s role better than Emma did. Well, I think Emma understood just fine, it was just her deep trust issues with everyone

But, yeah, the curse is broken, Zelena is dead, Hook is trusted, the baby has been born, taken, and returned, and Emma still plans on going back to New York. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I mean, we know Henry has no intentions to go back now that he has his memories and the rest of his family. But, she honestly think he wants to give up his real life and go back to NYC? I don’t think she’d go without him, but, yeah… I don’t know.

Also, the promo for next week’s two hour finale was bananas. So much is going to happen and I have no idea what will cause it. You know, now that the Witch is defeated and dead, who or what is behind next week’s struggle? Where do Emma and Killian end up dressed like royalty? WHAT IS HAPPENING?!

Let’s talk about Once Upon a Time- A Curious Thing

Oh man, so much greatness and so much heartbreak. Okay, maybe not that much heartbreak in the grand scheme of things, but my Captain Swan loving heart hurts a little this morning.

But I don’t want to focus on that. No way. I want to focus on Henry and his memories. Oh thank god he got his memories back! And thank god Regina has her son back! It wasn’t nearly as hard as getting Emma to believe in magic, but he did just get attacked by a swarm of flying monkeys. I’m really hoping they weren’t Aurora and Phillip because that would be sad. It already is just knowing it’s a possibility.

But, YES, Henry’s back and he’s doing a remarkable job at having two moms. That came out weird, but I was worried one would feel left behind when he remembered them both. I know he only had his memories for like half the episode— if that— but I have faith in that little guy.

Also, let’s talk about Regina and Robin! They’re all over each other and I love it! Regina deserves this. Yay. Also, how cute was it when Henry realized his mom was dating ROBIN HOOD?! And then Robin and Regina joked about how they did not get along back in the Enchanted Forest, but they still left the boathouse together, arm in arm.

So, the Enchanted Forest, huh? Snow was the one who cast the curse. And she did so by nearly sacrificing David’s life. Of course, they’ve been sharing one heart since the day he woke her from the sleeping curse. Now, it’s just official. Even though she was the one who cast the curse— in order to get back to Emma so she could use her light magic to defeat Zelena— it was Zelena who added the memory potion that made everyone forget what happened.

Then, she made enough potion for her and Rumple so when they got back to Storybrooke they would remember. Thankfully, Neal wrestled himself out of his fathers body just before Rumple was able to drink his half. Neal was the one who sent the note to Hook about finding Emma and getting her back to Storybrooke.

I’m going to talk about Hook now. I’m going to get a little sad. But I do believe things will work out.

Hook was kidnapped by Zelena who warned him again that he needed to kiss Emma and steal her powers. If he didn’t, she would kill Henry. Luckily (or not so luckily), Hook found Henry after a fight with his mother while he was trying to get in her car and drive to the nearest bus station so he could get back to New York. Hook just wanted to keep him safe, so he took him to the docks instead and convinced Smee to get him to NYC by stolen boat. Then, the monkeys came and then Henry’s parents and grandparents came. And all hell broke loose.

Just as Emma was about to kiss Henry to break the curse, Zelena showed up and took Henry hostage. She made sure to mention it was because Hook didn’t follow through on her instructions. Before Emma could react to that, she used her magic and got her son back. It was Regina who kissed Henry— breaking the curse— and Emma who confronted Hook.

He told her the truth, that Zelena had tried to back him into a corner. He told her that she wanted him to kiss her, successfully stealing her magic, and that he was just trying to keep her son safe. But Emma can’t trust him anymore. How could she? And the look of despair on the captain’s face. OH MY SADNESS! It didn’t help matters that David and Mary Margaret chimed in and told Emma that she shouldn’t trust him. They never sent him the potion that got Emma’s memories back. And if they didn’t, they had no idea who could have.

We know it was Neal, but Hook doesn’t. So, yeah, it does look a little suspicious, but HE GOT HER AND HER MEMORIES BACK! That, in it of itself, is reason enough to trust him. Forget that he was just trying to keep Henry safe. Whatever, like I said, I still think Hook and Emma can work it out.

I’m really curious to see what the next two weeks will bring for the town. I mean, now that the curse is broken and the memories are back, it’s all up to Emma? Woof. That’s a lot of pressure on the girl. It’s no help her mother is about to have that baby that Zelena wants so badly. It’s about to go down in Storybrooke and I, for one, cannot wait.

Actually, I can. I’m not ready for this season to be over. I feel like we just got it back.

Let’s talk about Once Upon a Time- Bleeding Through

I just watched this episode last night and I can’t really write an entire review right now. However, there are three things that I do want to mention:

  1. Regina and Mary Margaret- AMAZING character and relationship development right here! I mean, we’ve seen them slowly learn to trust each other and work together, but David and/or Emma and Hook are always around, too. This week, we got to see the two of them, alone, have a real, deep, meaningful conversation. We saw them accept their shared past in order to continue working together and becoming… Friends? I don’t know, we’ll see. But Regina protecting her and that baby, showing so much concern for the two of them, was amazing to see. I cannot wait to see this story line continue.
  2. Regina and Robin- More character growth for this woman! So good and so deserved! Robin had to give Rumple Regina’s heart (you know, the one she just gave him) in order to keep Roland safe. Obviously, it was the right thing to do. I mean, hello, he’s going to protect that adorable little boy and those dimples! And Regina respected that decision, she stood behind it. Because she knows how hard it is to lose a child and she’s seen it in others, too. She doesn’t want anyone to feel that way, especially not her true love. And after talking with Mary Margaret about feelings and pain, Regina went to Robin and she kissed himAnd it was perfect and I need more of it, please.
  3. Hook- Poor, suffering Hook. The guy can’t catch a break. And I know some people don’t like him and think he deserves all this pain and sorrow for the pirate he used to be. (Keyword there: used). I don’t agree with that— obviously— because he has grown so much and has tried to do everything right since he found Emma. And same goes for the time they spent in Neverland in 3A. Listen, there’s nothing he can do about the man— pirate — he used to be. And it’s not fair that people are so quick to forgive Regina and not give Killian a second glance. They were both villains once and they’re both working to become better people. *end Hook rant*
